POST 9: Description of my workplace

At my internship, there is 4 mechanics including my mentor. The business is a small business, because its only one owner, and its one little garage. but inside there's a lot of mechanics, and a lot of customers, all the time. my workplace does mechanic jobs, all kinds of mechanic jobs except for wheel alignment. the people that work their are all Spanish speaking and they work hard but still are able to have fun when they need to. Only the owner(my mentor) has a certificate from a technical school.my workplace is located on Pacific St but its mainly on Industrial Blvd. it looks a bit weird because there is another garage next to it and its a little bit confusing, but it has a big "California Auto Diagnostics" poster on top of the garage that he is in.

POST 8: Looking at other people’s blogs

it seems like its half and half of the student are doing their blogs.  i didn't really read anybody's i just skimmed thru the blogs. at my internship i am never bord because iim actually learning something i really care about and what im going to do in my future. i like it because i pay attention to it. this was my first time installing a transmission, on to a standard pick up truck, i like that because i did it good and it was entertaining for me to do.

POST 7:  How my WLE project is going

I was able to plan out what we are going to do!
I am going to write a survey about the customer service at my internship. 
My plan is to type out the survey and to have my mentor and my academic seminar teacher.
I am going to recuperate my hours by going in on saturday, and staying until they close.

POST 5: Friday Dec. 17th, Hours and Project

today , when i first got there i was cleaning the front windows and i helped martin take out the trash. then after that i helped out one of the mechanics put an engine back together. i believe i am on track for completing my hours, if not i would be able to make them up on a saturday. so its all good. as for a project i dont got one rite now because i do not have any idea of what i could do for a project.

POST 4: Friday Dec. 10th, Leadership Skills

I am using  Collaborate Productively because when me and Martin are  working on a car, we need to work together to get the job done, and we need to get the job done rite so we also use Complete Projects Effectively. its a whole different way than learning here at the shop were its hands on and you get to work with a friend, and in the class room you just got to sit and listen to the teacher. so the skills im developing are more hands on! i am using the computer experience skills that i learned at impact to write this blog about my WLE. my role as a student is ti get good grades and "get into a college" my role as an intern is to learn and keep learning while actually doing something that interest me and that i enjoy doing!

“POST 13:  How my WLE project is going”

Today at my internship I finished Archiving the DVD. Also i was working on my project and my mentor tough me how to make my poster better and some short cuts on how to make my poster a bit better and easier. it is pretty fun making a poster because i could control everything and i learn as i go because its mostly trial and error and if i dont like anything i could just change it. Today was our meeting and we interacted pretty good since he was teaching me a couple of new things, also he was telling me what he wants me to do next week since he is not going to be there.  This week I made a couple changes to my poster since my art group did not like it so i did a couple of changes and i printed it out and i printed it out so that i could show it to my art group and then i could do some changes on that. one plan that i want to do so that i could finish my project is that i am going to set up a meeting and my group is going to give me feedback and i will then change it so that i could have a final draft. 

POST 12:  How my WLE project is going

 This week at my new WLE i had to Archive some file into DVDs. Also I had to do some research on some companies that my intenship was going to do some signs for. i had to then put all of the info that i found about that website in a folder so that the person who is going to design the sign could have more knoledge of what their going to do. For my WLE project i am doing a poster advertising my groups art show. i am hoping to present that at the WLE exhibition. some thing that i need to know is what the group wants me to put in it. Also what colors in the back and what images do they want.

POST 3, the second day.

My second day at my internship was not how i thought it would be because i thought i was going to have to do some thing around the cars. i barely had to do anything around the shop so i did not get to see that much of what the mechanics were doing. probably the most surprising thing for me today was that i thought the shop was going to be clean. i did not know that there was going to be oil spills allover the place and leaves in the shop ,cleaning is mostly my job at the shop.

i did not really learn anything new today but i tried practicing the skill that if im going to do something to do it right, and my job today was to clean behind the tool box, i believe that i did a good job because it looked a lot cleaner. a thing that i learn to do is how to change the brakes on a car because i tried it once with my dad but i want to see how they do it in the shop.

On the first day of my WLE i did a lot of things. I basically did a lot of chores that needed to be done around the shop. I cleaned the computers, swept, cleaned the mops, then I moped, cleaned the windows, etc... My first day went pretty well and I really like working around the shop. I think that I did not have that much things to do because of the bad weather. One thing that i believe i did that impressed my mentor was to, try to keep occupied and do my work well.

I dont know what area I need hel;p in because I did not do what I had to do because the weather was bad and my mentor did not know that I was going. I was busy most of the time, but at the end I did not have nothing to do because of the bad weather. One question that I have for my mentor is, am I going to be able to work on any cars. I don't really have any questions for my Academic Seminar teacher.

An intro to my WLE: January 6th

 I did not go to job shadow day becasue I did not have my internship. My mentors name is Scott and he will be teaching me how to be doing mechanic work. The organization that I am going to be working for is a Ford dealer. This dealer is in San Jose. I believe I am going to be observing how the mechanics are working in the mechanic shop. I got the internship because I asked my dad if he could ask his manager if they do internships there. Then my dad came home and he told me that they did, after that I got all of the paper work so that the mentor could fill out. After that my dad gave them the paper work and i got it back, but on Wednesday, that's when i officially got it because I checked in with the person who handles internships.
